Far East Cynic

I love it when I am right……

And this is from Fox News-not exactly a hotbed of liberal thought:

  1. With any luck she will not be re-elected mayor of Wasilla. However listening to the “leaders” of the Republican Party seems to me she is exactly what they think will re-surrect the party and restore it to its former glory. Maybe Alaska voters will be more clear eyed this time expecially with decreased oil revenue wealth to redistribute.

Read a poll last night that said something like only 34 % of the public identified itself as conservative. Amazing.

  2. Foggy,

There was a decent piece on NPR (in before OMGLIBERALMEDIABIAS) this morning that featured an interview with an Alaskan print journalist. At any rate, the deal prior to the election was Palin was seen as someone who built consensus and not as someone who played partisain politics. The tenor of her part of the didn’t wash too well with some of the people she’d been working with up there. This set of constituents aren’t too pleased with her conduct.

Journo additionally mentioned that now Steven’s may not be seated in the Senate due to his felony conviction, Palin might be seen as the go-to insofar as a replacement goes.

What is clear, in watching her arrival in Alaska last night, and listening to her over the course of the campaign, she needs some serious work before she’ll be ready to headline a ticket on her own. I kept cringing while listening to her syntax, the whole deal with people trying to sound brighter than they are and then using words incorrectly doesn’t make for good press.

Lastly, I suppose my principle question here is what manner of conservative? Are we talking about Bush’s “Compassionate Conservatives?” Followers of Reagan? People that still think Nixon got a bum deal? Not criticizing your statistic, just curious how that would break down beyond the monolithic identifier of ‘conservative.’
