Far East Cynic

And now for something you really are not going to like.

The creator of Rocky and Bullwinkle has passed away. Criticize us boomers all you want-but we had some great cartoons.

Also, on a another sad note, James McArthur-he of the phrase “Book ’em Dano!” passed away today.

Man I feel old.

  1. 1. Oops, wrong hat! – hell I LOVED Mr Peabody the genius dog with glasses and abow-tie!

    2. The Ala Moana left-hand tube at the start of H-5-0 is now under a carpark.

  2. Skippy-San,

I was first introduced to the Moose and Squirrel in the 1980’s at the Oceanbanana O’club. They use to do in the summer a kiddie matinee with a lunch. So there were a few times I use to go to work with my dad and then at lunch we would go the O’club grab a bite to eat and then watch the maitnee, at which my mom would be outside ready to pick me up, while my dad went back to work. It was great since, most of they were on 16mm film, and they would do a Rocky/Bullwinkle or a Heckle&Jeckle cartoon and then finish up with 3 Stooges or a Our Gang short. Lunch and movie was something like 1.75 for the whole shooting match. A great deal at the time in 1980’s Hampton Roads area.

As for James MacAuthur, I remember him most for “Swiss Family Robinson” and later on I saw him in the “Bedford Incident”.

  3. I remember Moose, Squirrel, Boris, Natasha and the Fractured Fairy Tales from when I was in the first and second grade. That would be 1960 through 1962. That is the earliest memories.
In junior high when Hawaii Five-O started. Fourteen years of age. Now who is feeling old?
So many parts of my youth are going away.
