Far East Cynic

Not taking it lying down……

Yes , Yes, I ought to let it just go away.

But where is the fun in that?

Letterman shoves it back up Palin’s P.L.A. ( Can’t explain that acronym-it might offend someone).

  1. Letterman is a complete nigger.

Ha, ha, that was funny. I laughed.

    Curtis

  2. He’s only a political hack now, stopped wathing him over a year ago. BTW he’s not funny either.

  3. I like to see Letterman make jokes about Cher’s daughter and her upcoming sex change. After all, Chasity (now Charles) is well above 14 and can defend herself(himself).

Curtis, not sure what you meant by your comment, if you mean that word in terms of being a fool, but dave is one of you guys, not of my clan.

  4. Not much of a South Park fan, are you guys?

Sad part is that with Palin the jokes just write themselves-there was no need to go into this territory, and incur the victim hood that Sister Sarah absolutely loves.

As I said before, Palin is thanking the Lord above for this-she gets her name in the news and it gives all those poor misguided souls who like her something to get spun up about.

  5. Skippy,
Tell us how that works out again. I’m not sure I get it. A constant drumbeat of vile hate and putrid speech about a woman and her family is somehow beneficial to that woman? How does 100% pure damnation and bile from the left benefit a lady who has not even announced that she is running for office?
Why don’t the left just compare her to her gubernatorial counterparts in California, New York, New Jersey, Michigan and Louisiana? You know they/you could compare and contrast the effectiveness of their policies on economic growth, job creation and shit like that rather than on which one has the most boinkable daughter. But hey, if that’s how progressives get their rocks off and decide how to vote, so be it.

    Maurice,
My apologies for using a word that has found its way into the lexicon best left behind in 3rd grade social studies and perhaps 7th grade English classes that still read Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. I thought it was worth using over and over again in this little realm because it drives home a point I wanted to make about how the left treat the Palins. I’m also a member of the EEOC and figure that if it’s OK for anybody to use the word it’s OK for all.

  6. Curtiss, no problems. Hell I used the word myself, it was I just didn’t see how it applied to Letterman. Even though the word is offensive to my tribe, I wouldn’t use it to describe Letterman since to be honest I wouldn’t want him in my tribe.

Good points on what you said though. I can see people going after her for her politics, but what really has her family done? Leave them out of it. If on the other hand all of her daughters were in politics (like the Kennedy’s) then sure throw out the gags against them. But while they are minors, let is rest. Like I said, I am waiting for the punch lines about Cher’s daughter and her sex change. When they start to fly then I will say that there is not a left leaning media bias. Until then, anyone can see that there is.

I am not a great fan of Palin, but at least go after her policies in Alaska. Leave the family alone.

  7. The jokes were funny, not horribly funny but funny. Palin is stupid, not horribly stupid but horribly horribly stupid. Any one who has paid even the littlest bit of attention to the palins would have gotten that knocked up by A-rod joke. Lets see which one of her two daughters got knocked up recently cause she can’t (1 keep her legs closed and (2 in lieu of that and least figure out what a contraceptive is and how to use it. And by the way that formerly prego daughter of hers is going off talking about how horrible sex is and how no one not thinking about kids should do it. I’m sorry the rest of us figured out what a condom was and how to use in like middle school. And the fact palin also got offended by a something in his top ten list that was decent but not his best work, is testamet to the fact that she thinks she is queen and no one can say anything against her. She just spun all of this around to benefit her just like she did with her sister and her ex-husband. Palin need to stay in alaska and be eatin by a polar bear. It would be such a fitting end
Lettermen didn’t do anything he hasn’t done before. That family has it coming

  8. Curtis,

Because there is something about Sarah Palin that just promotes an emotional reaction:pro or con. I think I understand the negative reaction-everything about her, what she has done, what she wants to do, just screams “FRAUD”. And deep down, you would just like for her not to get her way. There is just something about her that makes you want to reach through the TV and just smack the stuffing out of her.

Its interesting you bring up the other governors. I think several of them make a much better candidate than Palin. Mike Huckabee, who I like-even though I disagree with his politics has the same bonafides as Palin. And his experience as a governor is more representative of what is required to govern the US. Alaska politics are unique.

As for whether its beneficial to Palin to have a feud with Letterman-how can it not be. It gives the right someone to villify. For Palin that’s what she does best and it helps keep her in the limelight. I’m not crying any salt tears for her.

I would point out that a lot on the left have criticized Letterman also-however whatever good will she won in that corner will disintegrate the longer she plays the victim. This case is closed.

  9. CZ..no, the jokes weren’t funny. Letterman is trying to be a Jon Stewart and it AIN’T working.
Bristol made a mistake. Her CURRENT efforts are admirable but no doubt futile, not that sex is bad but there can be consequences to such reckless behavior.
I watch MSNBC’s reaction to this (as a barometer of the left) and as one would expect, like Skippy and CZ, they eventually blame Sarah and her ‘props” for the problem.
Maybe Dave will have a Down Syndrome joke tonite?
Its all in good fun and after all, he was a “prop” too eh?
    So thats fair game, right?
By the way, once the word was out that Bristol was pregnant and if Sarah did NOT have her at the rallies what would be said then?
That, of course was a rhetorical question.

  10. Skippy,

I find it a little disturbing that a peer could be so lost to reason that he let’s his emotions drive his responses to intellectual issues. I guess I can understand a visceral reaction to somebody/something but it needs to be based on some character flaw in the person that you have decided is simply irredeemable. I’m curious what it is about Palin that makes you want to bitch slap her and her girls?
She has a track record as a governor. Go ahead and tell me what specific things she has done as a governor that torture your psyche to the point that you wouldn’t cross the street to piss on her if she was on fire?
You say she’s a fraud…..is that solely because her oldest girl had a baby out of wedlock or are you disturbed by the fact that she carried a baby she knew to have Down’s to term? You hate and despise her entire family but Barney Frank makes a more convincing intellectual argument then you do.

    Just saying.

  11. If it makes you feel any better, I have the same feeling about Nancy Pelosi. When I see her on TV, I start twitching.

One of the hardest things I learned in life was learning to control my emotions. Visceral reactions usually get you in trouble-especially if the person causing that visceral reaction is senior to you. I worked with a guy a couple years ago who was a total reprobate professionally. He was, as an officer, a total loser. But he was a loser with connections. I asked my guys to remind me not to lose my temper when we went into meetings. I would always write “REMAIN CALM” on the top of my clipboard. As my XO reminded me, let the facts win out-“if you lose your temper, you will lose.”

This is not about her family. Its really not-its about her. I don’t hate her family-I could care less if she has a family. Most people I know don’t care about her family either. They do care about the fact that she holds her family up as some sort of exemplar though. Clearly the events have proven its not. Also she has made her family part of her record as a governor. Her choice of having a family should not mean she has to drag those kids around while she is on official business. She had to pay back a lot of money to the state-and she’s smart enough to know she should not have been taking it in the first place.

What drives me nuts about Palin is what I have come to term “the sneer” in her voice. That unspoken but ever present tone of voice that says, ” I am better than you”. She has it-the same way a lot of other public personalities do-including the fat boy. I don’t like it.

Plus, getting back to her record, I’ve seen nothing in her record to see her as anything but lucky. Its easy to govern a state that is awash in federal and oil money cash. Think she could govern California? Not a chance.

Plus-and I will produce the documentation again-she has been caught in at least 20 very public lies about herself and her record. That kind of makes it hard to take her seriously. Plus her social agenda is not mine. I am anti make a poor guy marry your daughter, just so you can look good on the campaign trail.

If she is the best the GOP can produce-they have a lot bigger problems than Barak Obama. Fortunately she’s not-but it is going to take something very public and ugly to come to light to convince a lot of folks. My gut tells me that scandal is out there somewhere-its just a question of when it blows up.

  12. Evidently NO ONE can govern California.
I guess we’ll see if ‘Its too big to fail” is actually true eh?

  13. I can easily understand the negative response Palin evokes in most any senitent being. The positive response she apparnetly evokes just does not compute. She is, I think, a fraud. Pure and simple. If McCain had not chosen her I honestly believe he would be President today.

As to the jokes, I see nothing bad. They were jokes. Saint Sara siezed upon a non-issue in an effort to exploit the daughters for political exposure. That is disgusting.

  14. Foggy,

Skippy has announced that he will follow up with his reasons for despising Palin as much as I despise Pelosi. Were you or anybody to ask me what it is about Pelosi that I despise I could immediately start off with a list of reasons:
She’s a liar who accused the CIA of lying to her and Congress
She knew all about waterboarding years ago and lies about it
She steers billions of $ to her husband’s companies and nobody ever talks about it or writes about it
She promised an open, transparent, ethical Congress and through her support for leader of the party to that shitbag Murtha and has stonewalled every single ethics investigation including the democratic congressmen with $90k in his freezer at home
She is nothing but a slimy creep. What was it she did to the next in line democrat on the Intelligence Committee, oh yeah, took that expert and booted her out of the chairmanship she’d earned so she could award one of her cronies.
She’s a sleaze and she behaves like the queen of shrews.

So, ask me and I can answer, but enough about me, what about you? What winds your bowels in a knot about la Palin? I mean you must overlook a lot of things in democrats that you find totally unpalatable in republicans. I’ll repeat, Palin is actually a very successful governor with a decade of executive experience. The charming top 3 of the nation, obama, biden and pelosi have a grand total of zero experience as executives. Skippy likes to point out that Alaska is awash in federal $ and oil money. Funny how that works out. Ted Stevens, railroaded by a grossly political lawsuit that was later thrown out as completely unethical misuse of the justice department, was in the senate for decades scratching for cash to funnel to his constituents. Most of Alaska is managed by the BLM and thus provides zero revenue to the state but at least their politicians were smart enough to support the search for oil and its exploitation by the oil companies. The fucking morons here in California could open the oil revenue tap if their legislators in Congress and Sacramento behaved responsibly and did the same thing here. But they’re all in Pelosi’s pocket and won’t consider it and in fact keep voting to make it illegal.
So your turn. What is specifically about la Palin that you so despise? She’s easily way smarter, more ethical and more honest than obama, biden or pelosi. And if you propose to turn to the democratic underground for facts to justify your bias, I would consider fact checking them against balanced and reasonable cites because, you know, I’ve noticed that the left in this country is made up of totally unbalanced cretins who will believe anything! Look how they all believed obama when he promised to end renditions, wire taps, empty gitmo, withdraw promptly from iraq….you know, a bunch of complete saps.

  15. I’ve covered this over at my place, so I don’t want to repeat myself. But God, how I love faux outrage. It really is one of my all-time favorite things. I know how disgusted Republicans were when the “Hillary’s a lesbian and Chelsea’s ugly” jokes were flying about.

Having said that, we wouldn’t know if politicians even had kids were it up to me. If I were in control of the Goddamn Liberal Media, they’d be blocked out everytime their cynical parents trotted them out in public. Indeed, I would make a very big deal about politicians using their kids on the campaign trail or in the media, and then whining about how hard it is to “protect their privacy.”

I could have made zillions of jokes about Palin’s daughter, and they would have been brilliant, too. But I’m not going to pick on a fucking teenager who isn’t running for anything just because I don’t like her mom. As a matter of fact, I’ve never even used the names of her kids on my blog. Not once.

    BUT ….

I’m not sure that having said kid practically co-host shows with Greta Van Sustern and having the governor’s public office issue statements about her personal life is especially smart if you’re demanding privacy. I don’t agree with making those particular jokes, and I wouldn’t. But I can understand the arguments of those who would.

What I personally find most fascinating about Palin is the pattern of her embracing professional victimhood. After the campaign, McCain’s people started saying mean things about her, so she went on every show known to man to bitch about it. Then there was a round of press statements after the kid’s ex became a media whore. Now this.

That tells me that Palin really doesn’t know anything about politics. Other than a sliver of GOP base, her constant media blitzes only remind people why they didn’t vote for her in the first place.

You know where the Clintons were smart? They let the ugly things that were said about their daughter be judged on their merits, and the Clintons always came out looking better than their attackers. Palin doesn’t get that because there’s something in her genes that makes it physically impossible for her to avoid a television camera.

If the governor wanted to be taken seriously on policy, she actually say something about it from time to time. Instead, she keeps inviting us imto the freakshow of her life. Seriously, how presidential is getting into a pissing match with a fucking comedian?

Not only is she a cartoon, she insists on reinforcing that impression at every opportunity. She’s the most amatuerish politician on the national stage since McGovern.

If anyone wants to fun, look up Republican statements expressing their outrage about sexism before last September. It won’t take very long, because there are so few of them.

The GOP is rather rapidly becoming the same bitchy crybabies that the Democrats were for forty fucking years. What they seem to be forgetting is that the Democrats didn’t win very many elections in those four decades.

  16. Skippystalin,

You got any evidence to back up, “You know where the Clintons were smart? They let the ugly things that were said about their daughter be judged on their merits, and the Clintons always came out looking better than their attackers.” You could perhaps cite a half dozen examples to provide context for your statement above?

Remember the good ole days with Whitewater, the S&L fiasco, bimbo eruptions, travelgate, hillary care, impeachment, meaning of is is, perjury and I’m sure we can lay every stinking bit of it at the feet of the late night humorists and busy investigative journalists who insisted on poking fun at the Clinton’s because their daughter is ugly.

  17. Curits,

Count me in with Skippystalin. Palin is a self serving, incredibly ambitious woman, who lacks the talent, the wisdom, or the smarts to be President of the United States. She is-as I have pointed out before- a liar and a fraud.

Her record as a governor is, at best, mixed. The people of Alaska are waking up to that fact-which is why her popularity is dropping like a stone. Saint Sarah would not know it though since she has spent more nights out of the state than she has spent in it this year.

As governor she presides over a state awash with cash. Part of that cash is generated from a very high windfall profits tax on the oil companies. Alaska gets $13,950 per resident from the federal government, more than any other state in the nation. It ranks number one in taxes per resident and number one in spending per resident. It’s also number one in pork-barrel spending. Each Alaska resident receives a check for $3,200 a year from state oil revenues — which Palin bumped up from $2,000 last year. Palin once justified this by saying that the state of Alaska was “set up, unlike other states in the union, where it’s collectively Alaskans own the resources. So we share in the wealth when the development of these resources occurs.” (Sounds socialist if you ask me!).

And what do Alaskan’s have to show for their money? Alaska ranks 30th in the education rankings for the states. 32nd in over all health of its citizenry, 48th in available transportation. With the kind of money Alaska has it could do a hell of a lot better in services provided to its citizenry. She has been quoted as saying that she prefers her state to be poor.

With Palin though- I think its more fundamental. She is the nosy neighbor who thinks they have the right to tell you how to live your life-when her life is just as fucked up as yours. If she loves her family so much-why doesn’t she stay home and take care of them? She got incredibly lucky and has ridden that trail to a fufillment of the Peter Principle.

Actually when you look at them closely-Pelosi and Palin are actually quite similar. Right down to the rich, mousy husbands, the holier than though attitiude and the propensity to tell lies. They just lie about different things.

  18. So both Skippy and Stalin are left scratching their heads and offering the usual ad hominem zero fucking facts basis for their vile hatred of Palin and so, it appears, is their dirtbag friend Foggy. I figured it out. You’re all black lesbians in reality and hate a white girl governor who does good. Cause that’s roughly the entire total basis of your disagreement with her. God you’re such mean little girls!

    1. Um……….. no.

This is old news. I’m moving on to fake outrage of over photoshopped photos of Trig.

What is it you like about Palin? You would think she was your kid sister or something.

      Lets go over it again:

      Trans Canada pipeline.
19 public lies she was caught it in.
He own legislature is upset with her.
Only 1 day in 7 actually in Alaska this year.
Having to pay back the state to the tune of 10,000 dollars for expenses she knew were illegal. You want to be around your goddamn family so bad-pay for it your self. She probably is not done paying the state back either.

And finally-I just don’t like her! I can think of no more deserving candidate to be run over by a bus.

Foggy is not a dirtbag-and since he is a doctor and we are both not getting any younger, you might need his services someday-I’d talk nice about him.

  19. So you’re that petty. No problem really. You spew vile hatred for a woman you don’t know and who has decided to pay the state of Alaska the whopping some of $10k and that and the other little shit is enough for you to attack her at every opportunity. Where the hell were you when Obama appointed all those tax cheaters to his cabinet who owed far more than Palin and knowingly lied about it in writing?

If you’re at all curious, it’s the double standard that you and your friend exhibit that ires me. I guess you agreed to the double standard for ole Shannon too since you’re such a fan of not holding one party to the same standard that you’d hold another to.

I know Palin to be exactly and precisely to be what she presents herself to be which is more than anybody else can say for any other person in politics. Unlike the trimmers Kerry and McCain and all the rest of the party dirtbags, you can pretty much determine long in advance where Palin would come down on a policy matter. Can’t say that for the One. He seems to change his mind every single minute.

    1. How, pray tell do you know this? Do you know her personally? Otherwise, you know her the same way I do-by her public persona.

I don’t have a double standard. If she was candid about what she does know and what she doesn’t I might be more inclined to give her second look. If she recognized that the world is not black and white-but very much grey, I might be inclined to give her a second look. If she actually understood even a smidgen of world history and events-something she clearly does not , I might give her a second look. If she even knew how to take a joke-that alone would be an improvement. However so far-based on her public record-she cannot do any of these things.

And while we are on the subject of vile hatred-what is different about the criticism of Palin than that which you give Obama or McCain. I can sort of understand Obama, but McCain is a Republican-who unlike you seems to understand the grey in the world a hell of lot better than most of the “pure” Republicans. You are just as guilty of a double standard.

If you actually took time to read any of my Canadian counterparts writings you find he is also no fan of Obama. He just can’t stand the sneer of hypocrisy that comes from all the modern Republicans. If you actually had read most of my writings on the issue would find I have no use for Shannon Faulkner.

But make no mistake about it. If Palin is the top of the ticket in 2012 or even 2016-the Republicans will have squandered another opportunity. She will lose you two votes-for every one she gains.
