Thanks to Trump, life will be nasty, brutish, and short.
The K-shaped economy is a real thing, and despite what your deranged Trump-humping friends may say, Biden did not create it. Rich Oligarchs did.
Consider:
a. The majority of share gains on the stock market came from households making more than $100,000.
b. For households earning below $50,000, wallets are stretched, and people are managing spending paycheck to paycheck.
c. Companies are destroying the employment pipeline. Accenture is telling senior staff: “Use AI tools or lose promotions.” The goal is obvious: Don’t hire junior people. Destroy the pipeline. Lay off experienced workers. Give survivors an AI assistant.
This sounds great until you realize: Who trains the AI? Who maintains it? Who handles edge cases? You’ve eliminated the people with institutional knowledge. The system breaks. But in the short term, earnings improve. Stock prices rise. Executives get bonuses.
d. Blue Owl Capital, one of the biggest private investment managers on Wall Street, permanently restricted redemptions from a debt fund. Investors wanted their money. The fund said no. This is a huge red flag.
e. Meanwhile, the rich bastards like Musk, Thiel, and Ellison are saying that THEY are the real victims here. The billionaire who benefits from Trump’s policies wants sympathy. He’s convinced MAGA supporters to feel sorry for billionaires. To support policies that make them richer. He’s trying to subvert antitrust laws to get SpaceX to fund the other business that HE mismanaged. This is the ultimate con. Making poor people feel bad for the ultra-wealthy.
f. Finally, Trump and his minions are spending billions on tormenting struggling people because of legal technicalities and race. It is nothing short of a pogrom. Trump is about to start a major war with Iran, with no clear objective and no exit strategy. They are doing this while cutting health insurance, destroying public health, and giving tax cuts to the wealthiest 1%. You and I are paying more — a lot more.
At the same time, the government is destroying the environment rather than protecting it. Our children will suffer as a result.
Sadly, even now, red-hat-wearing scum still defend these indefensible actions. Even suggesting that we tax the rich to fund programs that benefit real people gets you attacked. Even when the data support everything I just said.
So yeah- I don’t really care if the US won the gold in Olympic Hockey. Destroy Scott Bessent and Pete Hegseth, destroy Elon Musk and Peter Thiel, put Kristi Noem and Stephen Miller in jail for the rest of their lives. THEN we might have something to cheer about.
Otherwise, the immediate future is quite bleak. And EVERY bit of it was avoidable. It happened not because of some conspiracy — just the fact that 1/3 of your fellow citizens were selfish and stupid.
