Opening day. The only day of the year the Pirates will be in first place.
This year is especially interesting-since the Pirates open against the Cubs at Wrigley field. Wish I had known that earlier-I would have flown up for it. The Cubs are the other team I root for all year. Just like the Pirates-they rip your heart out every year.
Its all down hill from here.

I root for the Cubs and Pirates-I thrive on dissappointment.
If the Phillies were from any other state-then I could be on their side, but because they are from Filthadephia-they must be hated. Kind of like hating the Yankees. A rite of obligation.

Now I know why your always a grump, cheering for two teams that you feel better betting on them to not making anything of their season.
Well the only reason I cheer for the Phillies is that portions of my family are from that area. The only other team that I have a chance to cheer for is the professional Yankee farm team that is otherwise known as the Seattle Mariners.
Being from Pittsburgh there is a natural aversion to the eastern part of Pa.
That is what I am hearing from a cousin of mine who just moved to Oil City. Being a Flyers, Phillies, Eagles fan she had caught nothing but Pittsburg love from her co-workers.
