Quote of the day-most appropriate for April Fools Day:
— There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.
Rand referred to democrats as Orcs? How prescient! š
So much for that education your parents paid for……………
I know. Shocking waste of money. I read the former but never got around to reading anything by Rand. I don’t recall seeing it at any of the DOD schools I attended growing up and book stores were scarce on the Great Plains around Fort Riley and Leavenworth back then and of course, I attended high school right there where you’re at so you can imagine what it was like bookstore wise/library wise back in the ’70s. Come to think of it, the Reconstruction Act probably forbade the sale of books of that ilk south of the Mason-Dixon line for obvious reasons.
