Far East Cynic

The perfect comeback……

A coworker and myself were down in the little cafeteria in our building, when we watched on the TV as this man verbally assaulted Arlen Specter:

Specter missed a great opportunity to make a point. And it probably points out why more Congressmen should read the Bible. Had he had more presence of mind he could have answered thusly:

Angry crazed Teabagger: " God will judge you!!!!"

Senator: " Most  assuredly he will. That being the case-and since it appears you are a religious man-may ask then that you pray for me? For we both should honor our Lord’s injuction to forgive those who trespass against us don’t you think?"

Angry crazed Teabagger: "Hmph……. Socialist! "

Senator: "Sir, would you pray for me? I’d really appreciate it if you did that. This is a hard time for me, especially with the burden of being a public official, charged with doing what is right for all of my constituents-not just those who demand that I behave selfishly. After all, as I public official, will He not judge me more harshly for not heeding His injunction to feed the poor, care for the sick, and take care of the hungry? After all in Matthew 25:40, the Lord says,  " And the King shall answer them, Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethern, ye have done it unto me."

Angry crazed teabagger: " That’s not the point! God does not condone socialism!"

Senator: " Possibly. But he did command us both, to seek after and feed his sheep. After all, Jesus said, ‘I have compassion on the multitude’-That’s what this debate is all about. How to show compassion and charity to those who may need it. Isn’t it?"

Crush them with their own devices.

I thought of this while I was running today. My first reaction when I saw it on TV was to look around for the nearest Louisville Slugger-but as I was running today, I realized that’s what these douche tea-baggers want. Congressmen-as public figures, have to be smarter than that.

  1. The least remembered part of the Bible:

    Luke 16:

19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, 21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

    Repent!!!

  2. That particular senate douchebag sold his soul at his election and asked that the people of his state elect his shitty little soul to represent them in Washington DC as a REPUBLICAN and then the little catamite decided to change his party affiliation and alienate EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT VOTED FOR HIM. The venal little cretin should be hung drawn and quartered.

He’s like all democrats; one cannot believe a single lying word they say.

Gee Skippy, it’s not like you to drop the ball like that. At least Lieberman had the integrity to run as an independent. It calls to mind my last trip to Portugal where all the “democrats” have the courage to run under the aegis of the Communist Party. You have to admit, their more honest aren’t they?

  3. Ummmmm….I don’t think it would be likely for Specter to quote from the Book of Matthew – last time I noticed, he’s Jewish… (and besides anything subtle would have been lost on the screaming moron)

  4. Skippy, so you want our Congressman to listen to what the citizens have to say, or is it more important for them (Spector) to be able to have a “perfect comeback” to put the peon in his place.

These people are speaking from their heart and it amazes me that everyone that speaks against this proposal is a “teabagger” to you. Next you will try to convince us that Sarah is the root cause of this.

Some of us do not like what this Congress is doing to America.

  5. Cy,

There is a right way and a wrong way to do everything and overwrought rhetoric about how Obama is a Nazi and is “trampling” on the Constitution is not it. Neither is true and all the whining does not accomplish anything except make money for douchebag talk radio hosts.

Congressmen are listening to their constitiuents-but they shouldn’t have to just roll and take it from a guy like that one behaving like a complete jackass. My first instinct is to beat the stuffing out of him-but on further consideration that’s not the right thing to do. You have to out smart these people and use their own rhetoric back at them-and also quote the facts again and again. These people at the town halls show what happens if you hear a lie enough times. You start to believe it.

Sarah Palin is the cause of some of this stupidity and she deserves to take the blame.

I want someone to offer a an alternative that gets people covered. The Netherlands has universal coverage with private insurance-we should be able to do the same. But the folks don’t want to hear that.

I support the idea of fixing health insurance in this company and kicking insurance companies in the balls for not covering people based only on ability to pay. The people shouting and behaving stupidly are not offering an alternative-all they are doing is crying about their right to be selfish. In this interconnect world that right is doing them no favors.
