Far East Cynic

No politically awkward questions here……

At the 2009 Japan Miss Universe pageant.

Speaking of good looking women on display, here is an HD of the pageant showing the winner-Emily  Miyasaka. (The Miss Universe site writes her name in English as “Emily,” but the kanji for her name is actually read “Emiri.” On her official blog, she signs most of her posts as “Emily,” but “Emiri” is also used in one post and in the title banner of the blog.)

  1. Thanks for the info. Stupid me, I forgot that Japan’s L is pronounced as an R. Hence no Robster craws for you..

  2. well. actualy japanese language dont have a border between sounds “l” and “r”.

therefore many japanese language dialects can use letters and symbols wich can be understood in a both ways as “L” and “R”. and therefore japanese do write in this case in romanji or they do speculate that you know this word in “original”. Nothing new or unusualy here. you should try to understand russian, polish or german words when they are wrote in english. and those all language are made from a same indo-european language family and were mixed the whole time.
