David Frum outlines the dilemma that Republicans face :
A man who is aggressive and bombastic, cutting and sarcastic, who dismisses the concerned citizens in network news focus groups as “losers.” With his private plane and his cigars, his history of drug dependency and his personal bulk, not to mention his tangled marital history, Rush is a walking stereotype of self-indulgence – exactly the image that Barack Obama most wants to affix to our philosophy and our party. And we’re cooperating! Those images of crowds of CPACers cheering Rush’s every rancorous word – we’ll be seeing them rebroadcast for a long time.
Rush knows what he is doing. The worse conservatives do, the more important Rush becomes as leader of the ardent remnant. The better conservatives succeed, the more we become a broad national governing coalition, the more Rush will be sidelined.
Frum will be dismissed as a RINO of course-but he’s right.
Frum is correct. I have enjoyed watching the Republicans flounder and cast about for a proper response to Limbaugh.
Sad part is Rush could not care less about the Republican party or any interest other than his own.
I find it disgustiing, and suspect majority of Americans concur, for anyone to wish the programs of a president to fail. As much as I disagreed with Bush’s policies and felt them wrong I never wished himo r his policies to fail. I hoped he was right and I was wrong.
Unitl the right learns the good of the country is all that matters they will continue to rush towards irrelevance.
How’s that “Hope and Change” working out for you so far guys?
I do not know. Not enough time has passed to judge. However I doubt will be worse than the previous administration policies. And for all our sake I, unlike Rush, hope BO’s policies work or at least do no harm.
There is something sick, perverted and unpatriotic wishing and encouraging for our economy to fail. Limbaugh is poster boy. I hope he fails.

You and Froggy seem to think that those who hold opinions that don’t align with yours are stupid. The reason that Rush does so well, so much better than either of you appear to realize is that he is no more a republican than I am or you are. You could not tell the difference between a current republican and a democrat with a sieve or a micrometer. Neither of them gives a toss about the conservative middle class…ie, the tax base.
Froggy leaps into defending the porkulus and doubts that racking up deficits beyond human comprehension on pork projects is going to be/must be better than anything the Bush Admin proposed.
The whole idea of spending one’s way out of debt and economic collapse has been proven over and over and over again and only a contemptible moron would believe anything else. A smart moron like either of you should be able to point out a few examples where a republic spent its way out of fiscal ruin.

True ideologues always try to obscure the issues. i, for one, do not know if the stimulus plan will work. Neither does anyone else. I hope it works.
There are many economists who believe it took the massive government spending of WW II to finally pull us out of the depression. Truth: I do not know; neither do you. What I do know is neither the right or the left has the correct answer.
Limbaugh is an opportunistic entertainer who has found a niche market and is skillfully exploiting his audience.
The only people that are exploiting me is Congress. Rush can’t raise my taxes, take my right to bare arms, silence my speech or take my right to secret ballot voting. He won’t tell me what to drive or where I can drive.
I will also say it, I hope BHO and Congress’ plan to socialize this country fails. Every day seems to bring another attack on business and it’s ability to be the engine that will drive us out of the problems we are facing.
Most of the attacks on business seem to come from themselves. The government did not make AIG make stupid moves in derivatives-and lose more than anyone else.
But the government is taking our money to bail them out.
It took my money to bailout the Iraqis too. Given a choice, I’d rather seen it spent on Americans and not worthless Arabs.
P.S. I think you can “Bare” arms just fine-wear a short sleeve shirt. 🙂
