Greetings from the foothills of the Rockies. Out here for 3 days on business. In one of my more misguided moments-I agreed to bring the S.O. along. Now -after a long day that began at 5 am she is in a grumpy mood. For the record, I did warn her it would be so.
We did go down town and also went up to the Air Force Academy. Interestingly enough-she thinks the “modern” architecture of the Academy is ugly, and I have to agree with her. There once was a time I was fascinated by it-but now it no longer looks as modern as it once did. It looks out of place on that hill. Plus the chapel appears to have faded a great deal since I last saw it some 15 years ago. (Pix to come in a later post).
As for the rest of the city-well its just a bigger version of Carson City if you ask me, without the benefits of casinos or brothels at the county line. You have the mountains in the back ground-suburbs galore and shopping mall after shopping mall. Seen one such town you have seen them all.
However the mountains make up for it all. To step out and look up at them each day-makes me think back fondly to my days of living and flying in Nevada. Those were the days.
Time to shove off now-the work starts early tomorrow-and the S.O. still has to decide if what she wants to do so we can set up the transportation……………
Beautiful BLUE skys..did Colorado Springs, Durango and Ouray a few years ago. Including a ride thru the mountains on a steam locomotive.
Time to listen to Emi Fujita and her rendition of
“Fields of Gold”
Cute accent.
Hope you at The Broadmoor. Great hotel. Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak intersting.
Hey…that’s my hometown your talking about! Hope you enjoyed the trip. Colo Springs is actually a great place to live…soon to be my retirement spot!
So what’s up with all the Tatoo Parlors there?
