How a worthless bastard like Pete Hegseth is destroying military education.
A lot of people do not realize that our piece of shit SecDef is actively working to destroy higher education in the Armed Forces. He’s doing it on several levels:
1) Ruining the service academies by censoring what academics can be taught and demanding indoctrination instead of actual learning. The academies used to be world-class universities with a smart student body. No more.
2) Refusing to allow officers to pursue post-graduate education at top universities, instead either denying them the opportunity to study altogether, or demanding they attend second-rate substitutes where they have used the power of state governments to hamstring what they teach.
3)Using active duty officers to harass professors who teach at Service Colleges. Guys like LTC Adam D’Ortona and others have actively attacked several professors and former professors. These folks actively demean the role of professional military education, in particular saying that they contribute nothing to “warfighting” and that anyone teaching at the Service Colleges who is not currently or formerly active duty has nothing to contribute. Their harassment is well known inside the Pentagon – yet nothing is done about it. Meanwhile, those who speak out about how wrong it is end up being fired.
Both the Washington Post and NYT have had deep dives on this outright politization of the officer corps by Hegseth and the slime who defend him.
Lucian Truscott has done a great analysis of how evil this attack on military education is, and why Hegseth has to be crushed for attempting it. He is a worthless man who could not qualify for any of these institutions. Had he not gotten a tattoo or been pushed by scumbag military bloggers, he would never have advanced anyway. Both of those things just hastened his departure.
With the Trump policy imposed by Pentagon chief Hegseth, the United States has shown the world that our military is afraid of speech that challenges the conventional wisdom, afraid of officers – and in the case of Bakken, civilian professors – who speak out on controversial issues in ways that the military does not officially endorse.
It is a sad commentary on the damage that Hegesth is doing. He’s keeping all the services on a grinding OPTEMPO, especially the Navy. The current stupid war is doing nothing to help that problem.

It very well may be that there is no education that can be given to future leaders of the U.S. Army that can prepare them for a world that is changing as fast and as brutally as the one we live in. This is especially true if the military-industrial complex that was named by outgoing President Eisenhower continues its grip on the U.S. defense establishment, and if idiots and fools continue to be elected to the U.S. House and Senate who approve defense policy and budgets such as those being put forth by Donald Trump and his single-digit Secretary of defense or war or anti-DEI or Christian Nationalism or whatever he’s calling himself these days.
It certainly does not help when the lunatics in Washington impose policies on places like West Point that are bound and determined to produce even more chickenshit fools who will go on to lose even more wars, such as the one we’re in the process of losing against Iran right now.
I have a Scottish friend who loathes Reform and the other idiots who are trying to destroy the UK right now. He beleives it is too late to save our future. He may be right:
None of us are ‘fixing’ anything in the next generation- we are sliding over the precipice and into the void – the 70 million Trump voters over there and the 10 million Reform voters are not going anywhere – they are getting angrier and angrier – the tech overlords and billionaire psychopaths are not going to stop until we literally have the dystopian world the sci fi writers foresaw for us – Blackstone own 300k houses , in five years it will be 3 million – in ten 30 million – the ‘middle class’ will be gone in 25-30 – in 30-40 there will be two classes – them and the poor – it cannot be stopped now.
I don’t agree with him, but he may be right. In which case, it will be time for the “Samson Option” and make sure that the authors of our misery pay with their lives for what they have done to a future that should have been far, far, better.
