Supporting Elon Musk’s illegal and treasonous efforts will not help you in the end.
Without a doubt, the most amazing thing I have witnessed in the last month is the abject stupidity of a heck of a lot of American citizens. These are people who claim to love America but clearly do not understand how government in a constitutional republic works. Indeed, they do not fully understand the danger of what Musk and his Muskjugend are doing to an institution that — despite its faults — works to serve the citizens of the United States.
In a previous article, I explained in detail why DOGE’s efforts are fundamentally illegal, irresponsible, and unconstitutional. The worthless souls cheerleading this abomination ignore its rather apparent violations of the Bill of Rights and the potential harm it can do to so many people whose only crime was obeying the law.
In psychotherapy, there is a phrase, “hurrying to play the tape to the end.” It describes people who assume the worst is going to happen to them, even when it has not yet, as a result of some dire event in their lives.
Musk’s cheerleaders are doing the opposite; they are refusing to see the end results of unnecessary and harmful actions. In the last month, there have been so many examples of how they do this. For Trump supporters, good policy does not matter and never has mattered. Only “winning” does; for them, “winning” is only about inflicting pain on someone who does not believe what they do. It’s how Trump ( barely) won the election, not because he had good policies — but because he was going to fuck over the people they wanted to see get hurt.
Here is just a short list:
Cutting funding for the NIH will harm American Medicine and research into new drugs and treatments.
Accessing the Treasury Department payment databases and unilaterally refusing to pay accounts ( appropriated by Congress) that Musk thinks are “wasteful.”
Demanding access to IRS files.
Accessing Social Security Payment Databases — and then lying about “150 year olds receiving Social Security’. ( This is a particularly heinous lie for which Musk deserves the worst that can befall him).
Gutting National Park Service personnel, USDA, HHS personnel, USDA Inspectors, National Cancer Institutes, and many others. Destroying USAID, for example, is already causing suffering to a lot of very decent people.
Take this example.
I can’t stress this point enough. These are not things you do if you want to “audit” an organization or recommend changes for “efficiency.” Audits take time and don’t require access to databases because there are other ways to provide information that does not violate a whole host of rights and laws. Many people who work in both the Treasury and, specifically, the IRS are CPAs. Most audit firms hire CPAs. A 19yo coder has absolutely no idea how to identify waste or fraud accurately. Calling what DOGE is doing as an audit is a flat-out lie. The only purpose is wholesale destruction. I repeat, “ By making funding decisions and hacking databases, Elon Musk and his crew of DOGE traitors are most assuredly committing treason.”
Play the tape to the end. Look, if you will, at the ridiculous demand that DOGE should see individual tax data and tax returns. There is no requirement for them to have this information. They are doing it for a reason. Don’t kid yourself; if Musk and his lackeys get to look at federal employees’ tax returns, they will try to make people think they are making too much money ( even when it may be entirely legal) and show how “corrupt” these employees are. If they protest- then the crazed and deranged red hat wearers will be called in to threaten them. And they will use that information to harm ordinary people. They can destroy people’s lives with it.
They have pretty much acknowledged that is what they intend to do:
The shitty people supporting both Trump and Musk are oblivious to this damage. They feel comfortable in their own existence — therefore, misery inflicted on others is somehow not really their problem. They think they are safe. ( One example I personally encountered was an airline pilot who somehow thought he had the right to chastise me for voicing a contrarian opinion, even while he works in an industry whose safety is being directly jeopardized by Musk’s action. Sad, really).
These evil people epitomize the new American motto: I got mine, fuck you.
