Sorry for the lack of posting, but I have been back in the Whining States of America for an extended period and been quite busy for both personal and professional reasons.
One thing about being back, that is jarring every time I come back, is the large presence of Fox News. Living in Europe I was able to shut it out almost entirely – instead, viewing better news reporting from a variety of outlets. BBC has its faults but compared to Fox, it is light years ahead.
It is not just that Fox is biased, it is just astoundingly bad. From the way their visuals are set up, to the writing of their news scripts, to the basic mannerisms of the hosts. It’s grating to have to hear, much less watch. And unfortunately, in several of the places I have been, it’s unavoidable.
Fortunately for me, I missed entirely the orgy of self-congratulation that was Trump’s fourth of July “celebration”. I had better things to do and thanks to time differences, I was able to avoid it on TV entirely thanks to being outside and away from the idiot box. God did provide some relief by raining on Trump’s parade, which was ironic, to say the least.
And I learned some new history, such as the prowess of the Continental Army in storming non-existent airports. Who knew? Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?
Enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend.
