This originally appeared over at ROK Drop, but it is such a great story of heroism and calm under extraordinary circumstances, that it is worth pausing and repeating here:
From GI Korea's post:
Lee Yoon-hye, an Asiana Airlines flight attendant, talks about the plane’s crash at a hotel in San Francisco on July 7, 2013. The previous day, the South Korean airline’s Boeing 777 carrying 291 passengers and 16 crew members crash landed at San Francisco International Airport, leaving two killed and 182 others injured. Lee and four other flight attendants prevented a catastrophe by calmly guiding all passengers to escape routes from the crashed plane during the emergency. She was the last to get out of the plane. She also suffered a fracture in her tailbone in the accident. (Yonhap) – See more at: http://rokdrop.com/page/2/#sthash.5j8DpgvD.dpuf
Is that what flight attendants look like in other countries?
It is with airlines that care about customer service. I once flew from ICN to HKG on Asiana. Got a courtesy upgrade to business class and the stewardess was chatting with me a lot durng the flight. :-).
In korea and Singapore being an airline stewardess, especially n international flights is VERY competitive. You can be assured that she is college educated and can speak at least two languages and is highly motivated. While looks are important, service is paramount as well as being extremely competent.
