Sorry for the lack of posting. Guests for work in town and damn the luck, have had to eat out and drink beer twice in a row. Got home tonight to watch the second half of the England- Ukraine Game. I have been watching as much of the tournament as I can-and plan to watch Friday's Germany game in a Biergarten.
Which had the proper result. England advanced. Ukraine-as befits a former part of the former Soviet Union-joins Poland in hosting the games but not playing in them. As it should be.
The cold war reflexes die hard it seems. I'm happy that all the "proper" European teams advanced, and the former Warsaw Pact countries ( with the lone exception of the Czech Republic) are now safely riding the pine.
But someone is going to have to explain the UEFA point system to me. I don't understand how France gets beat by Sweden and still advances.
Anybody able to explain how the point and group ranking system works?
