Skippy,
It was a pretty good shake. Been up in the EOC on CFAY for awhile. No tsunami action in Yokosuka, but they did take a lot of precautions. A normal drive up Rt16 from Mabori to the base took about an hour.
I have a friend, his wife was at NRT when it hit. She is trying to get home-or at least to her cousin’s place in Chiba. I guess the trains were shut down and the Wan Gan closed.
My boss is TAD back in SD and was scheduled to fly back on 12 Mar, but they have rerouted him to Haneda for 0500 Sunday. A few commercial flights were diverted to Yokota from Narita. I can see the fires from my office over at the refinery in Chiba.
I don’t think the trains ran at all yesterday and every love hotel room is taken down here in Yokosuka. Now is the time that I wish I had a taxi. There was money to be made from those guys today.
Skippy –
I hope all of your friends are safe.
The S.O’s family is fine according to here sister-but she has yet to be able to talk to her mother by phone. The phones are out in Fukushima.
