I knew it !

Good news for guys like me.

But a new paper in the journal Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research suggests that — for reasons that aren’t entirely clear — abstaining from alcohol does actually tend to increase one’s risk of dying even when you exclude former drinkers. The most shocking part? Abstainers’ mortality rates are higher than those of heavy drinkers.

    Unless one considers the carcinogenic aspect of alcohol – and there are studies of teetotaling populaces that support that assertion by reporting lower incidences of cancer – especially throat and breast; when compared to the general populace.

    Mike Douglas agrees, noting that while he both smoked and drank (the worst possible combination) he claims it was the drinking that caused the cancer.
