Brittany Murphy died a couple of days ago. Only 32-its so very sad.
What I did not know, was that she made a movie with a famous Japanese actor.
A long time back, I did a post about Toshiyuki Nishida, the Japanese actor who played in the Tsuri-baka Nisshi movies. He’s the guy playing the Shujin of the Ramen shop in this movie. Looks like it was shot in Japan, in Tokyo.
As an aside-the 19th movie in the Tsuribakka Nisshi series was released this past October.
Saw Ramen Girl. It was okay. It was, at times, a bit…mmm, how would you put it…cheesy like movies in Japan can be. I believe it was a U.S./Japanese joint production. That would explain a lot.
Nishida was quite good. I’d never seen Brittany Murphy in anything, but she made the film.
There’s a cameo in it by Tsutomu Yamazaki, the cowboy guy from the film Tampopo, which I have a feeling you’ve seen. The film itself is a bit of an homage to Tampopo, so it’s only fitting he plays the ramen master.
