In like a lion-out like a lion?

Cold today-just as it was a couple of weeks ago when we took these pictures:

This is Poogan’s Porch-which is the place you want to go for an artery hardening brunch on a cold Sunday morning. The restaurant is named for the dog that stayed when the owners renovated the house into a restaurant. He stayed and so the porch became his home.

The Old Citadel:

It is now an Embassy Suites Hotel. Seems a sacrilege to me-but on second thought the Hotel is taking good care of the grounds. When I was here it was a government building. The Citadel was founded here as an arsenal for the state. Having the college allowed the cadets to guard the weapons.

King Street. Its been yuppified since Hurricane Hugo came through. It was not quite so nice during my days here as a cadet:

In Charleston, the term SOB has a whole different meaning. It means “South of Broad(street)” and if you can afford it, its the way to live:

Well worth walking around on a Sunday morning so you can see things like this:

The Old Slave Market. That’s what it was, although a certain segment of the population gets really offended when you call it that:

The park at the battery. Believe it or not I used to love to run here-back in the day I could run 3 miles in 18 minutes.

And this guy was was the S.O.’s favorite part of the trip:

She loved the mascot Bulldogs. I’ve never been impressed by the breed-they seem like they would be hard to take care of. I like low maintenance dogs, feed em-and let em out the back door.

Happy Sunday!
