Far East Cynic

Pot……meet kettle.

Really busy, but I have to admit I raised an eyebrow when I saw this little gem:

Former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiornia was asked whether she thought Sarah Palin was qualified to lead a company like HP. Here, courtesy of St. Louis’s KTRS radio, is her answer:

HOST: “Do you think she has the experience to run a major company like Hewlett Packard?”

FIORINA: “No, I don’t. But that’s not what she’s running for.”

That whole “manage the nuclear weapons thing”? Not quite as hard as running a company into the ground I guess.

  1. The Wall Street Journal had an opinion piece yesterday about who is “qualified”. ,making some of the points I made a week ago. They cite the example of Truman and his readiness to be Commander in Chief etc etc.
No President is a polymath, except maybe Jefferson, who had a variety of interests. They depend upon “experts” to guide them.
The wisdom comes from knowing who to trust/believe. And perhaps, more than their fair share of “common sense”.
    Let me be clear:
I am no fan of McCain. I liked Romney and even though I loathe the Clintons, I thought Hillary did have some good points to make. Her assesment of Persia was right on. She said FIRST, we have to know who is REALLY in charge in Iran before we make any decisisons, which shows a lot of common sense.
