    You said yourself that Canadian Skippy was right (he is your muse) that even IF McCain is elected he will have to deal with a (probably) veto proof DEMOCRATIC congress.
    FDR, who spent all his years as a public servant, thought that he was going to live forever and decided with all his experience, that it would be a good idea NOT to tell Harry about the A-bomb.
    Harry, himself, allowed McArthur to stay on too long, despite being a WW1 combat veteran and an experienced operator in Kansas politics.
    LBJ, with all his experience, micro managed Vietnam and well, you know the rest.
    JFK, listened to the CIA and the DOD, that hell yes, it was a good idea to go ahead with the Bay of Pigs….
    Having experience or not makes not one wit of difference on whether or not you make the “right” decision. Its ALWAYS judgement.
    and character.
    Its our collective misfortune that we have elected a plethora of misfits and incompetents during the last 30 years.
    Sigh!!!!!
    By the way, I do agree with you on one thing.
    I like Tom Ridge. He seems to me to be a reasonable even keel kind of guy despite having been a Marine.
