Returned to the good side of the international date line last night. Trip from RDU through Chicago was fine and I was lucky enough to get upgraded into business so I could actually get a little sleep on the way over.

I would have gotten more sleep but I was really into reading the The Nine by Jeffery Toobin. Its a good book and the description he provides of the 2000 election and the questionable legal tactics that the Bush team used to railroad the case to the Supreme Court is fascinating. I never realized that Roberts was the leader of a lot of that effort-which puts his nomination to the court 5 years later all the more understandable. Why Bush made him Chief Justice however,  is beyond me.

My mother was moved to a care facility so that she could get some physical therapy so that she can get strong enough to resume using her walker.  According to my older sister she is doing well all things considered.  In fact her characteristic temper is probably working in her favor. She is not coherent in remembering things-but her mean streak has survived intact. She is motivated to go home. I talked with both my sister and my father this morning.

The S.O. tells me that the backlash from the collision of JDS Atago and the fishing boat is continuing and she has heard rumors on TV news programs and from her friends that the CINC Self Defense Fleet will be forced to resign because of the accident. She seemed surprised when I told her I thought that was a little extreme-he did not cause the accident after all-but she thinks it is just correct. As far as she is concerned the JMSDF should be made to pay. Really surprised me. However it is clear the Defense minister remains under attack in the newspapers.  One thing I do know, they canceled the annual Cherry Blossom party they hold every year up in Tokyo-they cite the fact that in view of the Atago collision it would be “inappropriate”.

On a lighter note, there is a new womens clothing company out-producing advertising that’s sure to appeal to at least one half of a couple:

“Hey honey! Want go out shopping for some Titty’s?”
H/T to Japundit!

You can get fired for saying this? I’m in real trouble:

“She is a monster, too – that is off the record – she is stooping to anything,” Ms Power said, hastily trying to withdraw her remark.Ms Power said of the Clinton campaign: “Here, it looks like desperation. I hope it looks like desperation there, too.“You just look at her and think, ‘Ergh’. But if you are poor and she is telling you some story about how Obama is going to take your job away, maybe it will be more effective. The amount of deceit she has put forward is really unattractive.”

I’m confused. Hillary is a monster. What is there not factual about that statement? 😉

And the fact that Hillary whines about only proves what a real “bitch” she really is. Ms. Power should confine her defense to , “Kiss my …………” .

Keep fighting each other guys-John McCain will be laughing all the way to the White House.

John Cole kind of sums it up:

Christ on a crutch, I am tired of the Clintons. Being wrong about EVERYGODDAMNEDTHING in Iraq does not make you “Commander in Chief” material. Neither does being in bed next to your husband when he answers the phone at 3am. Please just stfu, Hillary.
