Far East Cynic

Not happy with the monster they created.

Or sometimes, a horse just deserves a beating.

A vile and rather disturbing comment deserves a response.

It is kind of funny to hear the responses from all the so-called “principled conservatives” today, who continue, even when it has been proven to be a falsehood, to believe that there was some sort of a difference between Ted Cruz, Benjamin Carson, Marco Rubio and Donald Trump.

If this is what the “base” wants, then thing the founding fathers feared has come to pass. They feared the power of a demagogue and so they put protections in to keep a demagogue from destroying the entire enterprise. That’s why, for better or worse,  we have the Electoral College.

Now the rabble rousers and intelligent’s of the GOP act like they bear no blame whatsoever for creating an atmosphere where lunatics and depraved people are free to roam. It would be funny if the consequences were not so destructive for the United States of America as a whole.

Here is a news flash-Trump has been a long time coming. As Nate Silver noted.

As many writers today have noted, Trump did not create the sickness that is plaguing the Republican Party, he was just the guy who was allowed to be a vulgar human being and use the fear and stupidity that the conservative “media” had been feeding for years to his advantage.  You created Trump. All of you readers of John Hinderaker and the other members of the Liars Club. the extremists at the National Review and of course the non-stop drumbeat of doom and gloom from the boys and girls at Fox News. You built this-so now live with it.

I think it’s likely that all of the people in the train station, from foot soldiers like Catherine Dewar all the way up to the candidate who had just quit up on the podium, thought it could last forever—that a political movement based on slogans and shibboleths, on hate and fear, on crackpot economics and splinter Protestantism, on deliberate know-nothingism and carefully cultivated ignorance, could live forever without anyone ever noticing how easily a constituency could be built on pure appetite and pure id that would prove strong enough to hijack the whole business.

It is a dark and painful reckoning that has come upon all of them now.

They are in the hands of the charlatan that their own success made inevitable.

Trump is a dangerous man. The uncontrolled stupidity he has unleashed is very dangerous to a Republic that needs to rely on an informed electorate.

Those who say the Donald is a ‘psychopath’ are underestimating the problem.
