Far East Cynic

Evil is readily visible

I stayed up drinking last night and watched the VP debate. ( Because I have a Sky satellite-a Murdoch product- I get ………..wait for it………Fox News. I held my nose and turned it on for the debate coverage).

I'll make no bones about it-I thought Joe Biden was very good last night and gave the "zombie eyed granny starver" a verbal beating. One he richly deserves. ( He deserves a Louisville Slugger beating too, but somehow the Secret Service seems to object to that).

Charles Pierce, author extraordinaire , hailing from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts ( God save it!). sums the debate up well:

If you believe that Thursday night's vice-presidential debate was a "draw" because Joe Biden was "rude" and "disrespectful" while Paul Ryan was obviously being disingenuous and uninformed, or that you've decided to go with "disingenuous" and "uninformed" because its manners made it more "likable," then you deserve the inadequate health-care voucher that's coming your way in 2014, as well as the letter from the Social Security Administration that your benefits will be down to 85 cents a month because International Embezzlement LLC went belly-up and took your retirement with it. Tough luck, kids. Them's the risks of an Opportunity Society.

Bear in mind: A lot of the elite media was pitching this line of, yes, malarkey while the debate was in progress. David Gregory was on the magic Twitter machine, telling us that his "moderate" acquaintances were wondering about Biden's demeanor. And Luke Russert was being, well, Luke Russert, which is to say somebody who ought to be filing his dispatches every day in Colorforms.

As I pointed out earlier, the actual news in this debate was Biden's ability to make Paul Ryan own his earlier, extremist self on everything from Social Security to a woman's right to choose. Going back over the transcript, on the latter issue, I find that Ryan was even worse than I thought….

Paul Ryan is a truly evil man-save for the fact he does not know he is evil and is convinced he is doing the Lord;s work. Which is only true if you deep down believe the Almighty is a cruel bastard- a concept I refuse to accept. I would have loved it had Joe asked Paul Ryan why, if God is so powerful and the State so incompetent, he doesn't just trust God to mete out whatever comeuppance all those women having , as one of Pierces commentators states: "Brooks- and Clan of the Red Beanie-unauthorized sexytime with their ladybits have coming and leave the incompetent state out of it. If you ask me, Ryan's faith, reflected in his preferred policy, is far weaker and smaller than that of those who hold that the conversation between another person and God is not for them to insert themselves into. And the decision whether or not to have a child? That's about as intimate a conversation as any person will ever have with his or her higher power."

  1. You much braver than I . Watched the first 30 minutes. Biden crucified Ryan. A very unequal lopsided exchange. Ryan deserves credit for being able is lie and fabricate so much is only thirty minutes and with a straight face. Today heard a fact check analysis of the mediocre and health care portion of the debate. Ryan wass 100% untrue. Quite a remarkable record.

  2. Even more remarkable is that about 50% of US voters wants to believe him…
I've just looked up employment stats for  OECD countries –
top 10: Iceland,  Switzerland,  Norway,  Netherlands, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, New Zealand, Austria, Australia – all over 72%… Crop of "overregulated unionised socialist economies".
    US is 16th, BEHIND ESTONIA…
    I rest my case!

  3. Yaweh was one of many of the elohim and eventually overcame the other gods for whom he had no respect.
He was cruel, even though he masked his cruelty in the cloak of justice, or using surrogates like Joshua to smite the enemy, the "enemy" being those that did not accept him as the "one"(even though MANY gods, like BAAL, were part and parcel of the early Hebrew belief system.
The OLD testament Yaweh was a brute. Not unlike the people who followed his path.

  4. Richard,

You are going to have to school me in the Talmud-because that is no where in the bible. However, if you are a Herman Wouk fan-read his lecture on Job in "War and Rememberance" where he points out Job proved God wrong.

  5. Isn't it remarkable how the scales are falling from so many formerly blind eyes as some get their first look at what Democrats have done for US? Gitmo still open and in business, renditions all over the place, deficits over a $trillion despite promises, gas price doubled in four years, kept the Bush tax cuts to preserve the rapidly expanded economy. Why the list of accomplishments just goes on and on. It seems that the Democrats have a little teeny tiny, almost unbearable credibility problem that heretofore had been offset by a media unwilling to notice or comment.
Do you and Foggy pause to wonder what changed the irreversible Democrat landslide that was predicted to stomp out Romney and Ryan? Do you suppose it's racism? Antipathy for politicians from Chicago? I'm forced to admit I stopped watching TV years ago and only heard the radio during commute which I haven't had to do for years either come to think of it. Stopped reading newspapers long before that and that was even with a daily dose of WSJ, NYT and Washington Post. I'm afraid the Plain Dealer just isn't worth picking up.
I'll confess the election is still in doubt but you have to admit, much has changed since the lightworker showed up in the same room as Romney….oops, that bit at the Al Smith dinner was another good one with the two in the same room. It does speak volumes to me that the Republican party can make a very telling campaign add that does nothing more than show video of the Biden during the VP debate. What was his latest screw up, here in Ohio, something about asking us if anybody we knew had fought in Iraq and Iran. I admit we used to refer to a bunch of those places as the 'stans' but not Iran because it isn't a stan.

  6. In a proper world where the country was not full of selfish stupid people Obama would be winning by a landslide. His record of accomplishment would be far richer because he would have had a reasonable Congress-not the current group of worthless pieces of Republican shit we have now. Just about all of the items you cite are directly due the fact that the country is ungovernable right now because we have a stupid electorate that elects teabaggers.

So many Americas deserve to be taken out and have the shit beaten out of them-this is where the problem lies. Romney just capitalizes on it.

  7. P
Please Skippy. I'm not ignorant. Obama had a supermajority in the Senate for two years and a huge overwhelming majority of Democrats in the House and he got just exactly one thing passed and he didn't lift a finger and left all of the work and arm twisting to Pelosi and Reed. Univision eviscerated Obama and rightly so for his failures on Immigration Reform. Obama never even bothered to enter a bill to revise the laws of the land. Tell me just how the fuck Republicans or Tea Party folks foiled these foul sinister plots since they couldn't possibly even hold out for a supermajority vote in the Senate or prevail in the House?
You recall it got so dire in 2009/2010 that the Democrat Party whips didn't even bother trying to keep the blue dogs and their ilk from trying to hold onto their seats and let them vote against what ought to have been straight up party line votes. That's hardly the selfish behavior that you ascribe to republicans and tea partiers now is it? Who was being selfish?
Remember the original name of the Bill that was used as the Democrat Senate lead Obamacare Bill? Had nothing to do with health care and didn't originate in the House. Those worthless democrats couldn't even vote out a simple single Health care bill. Rather pathetic isn't it?
I still don't know how the election will turn out but one thing is perfectly clear. Anyone can fact check any Obama promise and find that he lied about everything. He never uttered a true word in his life. You uhhh haven't uhhh noticed any uummm US budgets anywhere during the last 4 years have you? Honestly, full control of the House, Senate and the Presidency and democrats could not even pass a simple budget. That's a simple majority vote. I wonder, how do you guys explain that and attribute it to demons and the forces of darkness?

  8. 133 days. The statement "Obama had a super majority for two years" is a Fox News produced lie. He only had one for 133 days and Congress was out of session for about half of it.

More filibusters during the remaining time than ever were had in the history of the Congress.

    Teabaggers are ignorant-and fat too.

  9. I suppose one could look at it as you do if one is a defeatist. I wonder who controls the schedule in either house….wouldn't that be the Speaker of the House and the vile senator from Nevada? I guess they had more important things to do with their time and opportunity. The rules of the House and Senate are set by majority vote. Hard to believe sincere dedicated true believer unrighteous socialists would not cease the opportunity to terminate filibusters if they truly wanted to.
Why do all the leading democrats appear to be millionaires and billionaires, and fat. I notice that the rank and file also tend to ignore all the lies spewed by the party leaders and what about the chairthing running the DNC? Vincible ignorance seems to be a brew drawn and quaffed by democrats. I enjoyed the latest from the thugs who interviewed all the college students and asked them about the election and it appears many of them damned that darn Nick Romney fella. What a tragedy if them and those like them should prevail in the next election.

  10. We survived Bush-just barely. Romney, if he wins will, have a good run till he starts a war with Iran. Then like Bush, its all down hill from there.
